Tau Gamma Phi History

The Fraternity's early years were marked by influential leadership under Rodolfo Sta. Maria Confesor, and it gained recognition as an order of intellectual elites within the academe. Their organizational discipline, determination, and positive examples garnered the respect and attention of the University of the Philippines student body. As the principles of the Triskelions resonated beyond Diliman,
they established chapters in various universities, including the Philippine Maritime Institute, Feati University, Mapua Institute of Technology, and the National University. Despite challenges posed by the political climate of the time, including the declaration of Martial Law, Tau Gamma Phi remained steadfast in its mission to propagate its principles of truth, justice, freedom, and national democracy. In alliance with various cause-oriented groups, the Fraternity actively participated in the fight for social awareness and the rights of the student masses.
Through victories and challenges, Tau Gamma Phi FF ROY ORDINARIO emerged as a powerful force in the fraternity system, known for its warriors' spirit. As the Fraternity expanded and members graduated to pursue their careers, the establishment of the Triskelion Alumni Organization became essential in harnessing the resources and contributions of the alumni sector. Throughout its history, Tau Gamma Phi remained committed to its core principles, forging a path of unity, progress, and positive change.
Today,
Tau Gamma Phi stands as a testament to the enduring power of brotherhood and
the pursuit of a common purpose. From its humble beginnings at the University
of the Philippines to becoming a national force, the Fraternity's journey has
been one of resilience, growth, and unwavering commitment to its principles. As
it continues to shape the lives of its members and communities, the legacy of
Tau Gamma Phi remains a source of inspiration and pride.
Looking back at our
history, speaking on behalf of Talek and Rod, it is essential to clarify that
we have never laid claim to full authorship of the Tenets and the Code. While
we were contributors to their creation, the principal author is Resty Alfonso,
who, due to personal reasons related to his love life, chose to leave the
fraternity. It is crucial to recognize that it was not Tito who solely held
authority to interpret the rules or shed light on the spirit underlying those
rules. Each of us played a part in shaping the fraternity's principles, and it
would be unfair to ascribe exclusive ownership to any one individual.

In the "2007
revelation," it was clarified that the two Founding Fathers were never
expelled from the fraternity; instead, they made the personal decision to
depart on their own terms. Their departure was driven by their individual
perspectives and aspirations, leading them to seek different paths outside the
fraternity's fold.
